Bespoke Hypnobirthing for Confident Childbirth

Lynne Wilkins, Cognitive Hypnotherapist

Would you like support to have the most positive childbirth experience you can? With Confident Childbirth coaching you can be more confident about achieving this and learn skills that help you have your baby your way, whatever happens and feel positive about it afterwards.  This means less stress for you and your baby which will help to give them the best start in life.

Guided by your own particular goals, I will respect your choices and develop a flexible programme for you.  You will learn skills that are useful before and after the birth as well as during your labour.  Gain confidence with:

Self Confidence
  • Self-hypnosis

  • Techniques which may help with pain control and discomfort

  • Handling negative self talk and unhelpful stories others tell you

  • Managing uncertainty

  • Communicating effectively with your medical team

  • Meeting a challenge and keeping going

  • Developing a Birth Plan for Your Mind

  • Coping with parenthood and breastfeeding

This can be an investment in lifelong skills.  Once you and your partner know how to use self-hypnosis you will be able to translate this to other areas in your life where you need a positive supportive mind.

There are quite a few hypnobirthing programmes out there.  If you prefer a one to one, flexible approach and think you will benefit from working with a qualified professional hypnotherapist, I may be right for you.   A big difference with all my Cognitive Hypnotherapy, including my Confident Childbirth work, is that I can give you a unique hypnosis recording created just for you and your situation.

The National Childbirth Trust has published some useful background to the use of hypnotherapy and childbirth.  They say, "The Cochrane review of five Randomised Control Trials, involving 749 women, found evidence to suggest that hypnosis decreases the need for pharmacological pain relief in labour including use of epidural; reduces augmentation of labour and increase of spontaneous vaginal birth.  Hypnosis is also associated with improved maternal wellbeing and satisfaction."

This was certainly my experience as I had two very positive natural births with large babies using hypnotherapy.  This was after quite a poor birth experience with my first child.  So, knowing how different things can be, even after a time like this, I have a particular interest in working with you if you had a previous traumatic birth experience.
